Alongside my formal education in the Journalism & Media Studies and Cinema Studies programs at Rutgers, I was also privileged with an apprenticeship under veteran documentary film editor and Rutgers instructor, Dena Seidel. Seidel not only provided guidance on my short documentaries throughout my undergraduate career but also hired me for her own projects as well, including a shoot in St. Thomas to film an underwater ocean-sampling robot for her feature film, ‘Atlantic Crossing: A Robot’s Daring Mission.’ In addition to my work with Seidel, I was also the videographer for Project Civility at Rutgers – a two-year university initiative aimed at raising the consciousness of civility on campus. For Project Civility, I produced promotional videos, experimental art pieces and several short documentaries. Outside the university, I wrote, shot, directed and edited the promotional videos for Evander Holyfield’s fight against Sherman Williams, which accrued over 100,000 views on YouTube in less than one month. While my background and training is in documentary film, I challenge myself with a variety of genres, hoping to gain a greater control of the moving image at large.
